Kedarnath, April 24: The registration process for Kedarnath Yatra 2023 has been temporarily suspended till April 30, in Rishikesh and Haridwar, due to heavy rainfall and snowfall in Kedarnath.

Narendra Singh Kaviriyal, Additional Commissioner (Administration) of Garhwal Division and Additional Chief Executive Officer of Chardham Yatra Administration Organisation, said that the government will review the weather conditions and take necessary steps in the interest of devotees.

Uttarakhand government has issued an advisory for the pilgrimage and requested the devotees to be cautious and plan their yatra according to the weather conditions.

As per reports, it has been raining intermittently and snowfall continues in Kedarnath. The devotees have been advised to check the weather forecast before going to Kedarnath and to carry sufficient warm clothes.

Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar urged the pilgrims to be alert and start their yatra by checking the weather conditions.

The doors of Badrinath Dham will open on April 27, while the doors of Kedarnath Dham, situated in the upper Garhwal Himalayas, will open on April 25 after being closed for nearly six months.

The Char Dham yatra started on April 22, on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya, with the opening of the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri.

However, the pilgrimage has been adversely affected due to heavy snowfall and rainfall in the area. The situation is being closely monitored by the authorities, who are taking necessary steps to ensure the safety of the devotees.

Kedarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage that attracts a large number of devotees from across India and abroad. It is considered one of the holiest pilgrimages in Hinduism, and the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The pilgrimage season lasts for six months, and the temple remains closed during the winter months due to heavy snowfall.
