Imphal, Sept 11: A moderate-intensity earthquake, measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale, rattled Manipur’s Ukhrul district and its neighboring areas on Monday, as reported by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The NCS indicated that this moderate-intensity tremor occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on Monday night, with its epicenter located in Ukhrul. The tremors were also felt in neighboring districts, extending into parts of Myanmar and Nagaland.

The earthquake struck at a depth of 20 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface, which is considered a relatively shallow depth for seismic activity.

Fortunately, the Manipur Disaster Management Authority reported that there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property resulting from the earthquake.
