Delhi apples

Delhi, Sept 26: Three individuals were apprehended in Delhi for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and extortion of a 33-year-old businessman who had come to the city from West Bengal to purchase apples. The victim, identified as Babloo Yadav, had traveled from Siliguri’s Bagdogra Airport to Delhi for this purpose. The incident occurred last Wednesday.

Upon his arrival in Delhi, Yadav was picked up from the airport by a taxi arranged by his friend Ajay. He was then taken to Sector-21 in Dwarka, where Ajay and an accomplice awaited. The following day, four more associates joined them, and Yadav was forcibly taken to an isolated dairy firm in Bahadurgarh by car.

The kidnappers threatened Yadav and demanded a ransom for his release. He was instructed to contact his relatives and transfer a total of ₹2.7 lakh through five different UPI IDs. After receiving the ransom, the kidnappers left him near Bahadurgarh City Metro Station and warned him not to report the incident to the police.

Yadav filed a complaint against the five suspects, including Ajay, at the Delhi Airport police station on Friday. Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered under sections 364A (kidnapping for ransom) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code. An investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of three suspects: Praveen Kumar (27), Vikas (26), and Harphool Singh (33) on Monday.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Ajay and the fifth suspect involved in the case.
