Itanagar, Sept 07: In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the border region of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was brutally stabbed to death, while another was left severely injured in an attack by two bike-borne assailants. The incident occurred on September 6, leaving the nation in mourning and law enforcement agencies on high alert.

The deceased CRPF personnel has been identified as Sunil Kumar Pandey, a native of Uttar Pradesh. Both Pandey and the injured jawan were posted at the 106th Battalion in Arunachal Pradesh. The shocking and unprovoked attack took place at Bordumsa, a town situated along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

According to preliminary reports, the two CRPF jawans had ventured into the market area in civilian attire when they were suddenly ambushed by two unidentified miscreants riding a motorcycle. The attackers brandished a knife and launched a vicious assault on the unsuspecting jawans. In the aftermath of the ruthless assault, the assailants swiftly fled the scene, leaving one jawan lifeless and the other gravely injured.

Local law enforcement agencies were swift to respond to the incident. The Bordumsa Police Station, which operates under the jurisdiction of the Assam Police, initiated an investigation into the attack. Preliminary efforts in the investigation have already borne fruit, as CCTV footage from the vicinity has been retrieved. This critical footage has enabled the authorities to identify the suspects, who are believed to be from Namsai district.

In a testament to the spirit of cooperation between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh’s law enforcement agencies, the details and evidence collected have been promptly shared with the Arunachal Police. Joint operations have been launched to locate and apprehend the accused, with the concerted efforts led by Bivas Das, Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), and Hemant Boro, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Margherita.
