Imphal, June 10: An advance security team preparing for Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s upcoming visit to Jiribam was ambushed by suspected armed militants near T Laijang, close to Kotlen on NH 37 Jiribam road at around 10:30 am on June 10.

One security personnel was injured during the attack.

In response, a joint operation by police commandos and Assam Rifles is underway to apprehend the attackers and secure the area.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, who is scheduled to visit Jiribam tomorrow, dispatched the advance team earlier today to evaluate the safety and security situation.

However, their mission was disrupted by the ambush near Kotlen on National Highway 37.
