Imphal, May 04: The Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh, has issued an appeal to all residents of the state to cooperate with the government in maintaining peace and harmony.
The appeal comes following a series of incidents of clashes, vandalism, and arson that have occurred in the state over the past 24 hours, resulting in loss of life and property damage. CM Singh stated that the unfortunate incidents were due to a misunderstanding between two sections of society and assured that the government is taking all steps to control the law and order situation.

The state government has requested additional Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) from the central government to be deployed in sensitive areas of the state. The government is seized with the matter and is taking steps to restore normalcy in the affected areas.
In response to the situation, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles have been deployed to evacuate people from affected areas.

So far, 9,000 people have been evacuated from different parts of Manipur, with 5,000 people being evacuated from Churachandpur, 2,000 from Imphal, and 2,000 from Moreh. The evacuees are being provided assistance at Army camps and Assam Rifles COBs.
In addition to the evacuation efforts, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles have conducted flag marches and aerial reconnaissance in areas of Khuga, Tampa, Khomaujanbba, Mantripukhri, Lamphel, Koeirangi, and Sugnu in Kakching districts.
A total of 55 columns of the Army and Assam Rifles have been deployed so far to restore law and order. An additional 14 columns are on standby for deployment at short notice.
The situation in Manipur remains tense, and the government is working to restore peace and order in the state. The Chief Minister has appealed to all citizens to maintain calm and cooperate with the authorities to ensure that the situation does not escalate further. The government is keeping a close watch on the situation and will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
