3. Strong denouncement of the senseless attack by Meitei insurgents.

Imphal, Nov 20: In an emergency meeting convened at Kanggui, the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) strongly denounced the unprovoked assault on Haraothel and Kobsha villages in Kangpokpi district by Meitei insurgents, resulting in the tragic deaths of two innocent Kuki-Zo villagers – Henminlen Vaiphei and Thangminlun Hangshing. The victims were brutally killed in this senseless attack.

In response to this appalling act, the Committee unanimously declared an emergency shutdown in Kangpokpi district to send a clear message to the Union Government that the local population is no longer safe under the existing partisan government. The meeting emphasized the urgent need for the realization of the demand for separation from Manipur.

During the shutdown, press activities, emergency services, and CoTU units will be exempted. The decision to impose a shutdown reflects the deep concerns and dissatisfaction of the Kuki-Zo community, urging the Union Home Ministry to take swift action to address their grievances.

The repeated appeals of the community have seemingly fallen on deaf ears, leading to a series of unfortunate incidents. The CoTU now contends that political separation is the only viable option to ensure the safety and well-being of the Kuki-Zo people in the region.
