Manipur extends night curfew till July 20 amid a surge in COVID-19 cases

Guwahati, July 10: Amid a surge in the COVID-19 cases in the state, the Manipur government has extended the night curfew in all districts till July 20 from 7 pm to 5 am.

An order issued by Manipur Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar who is the chairman of the state executive committee of the state disaster management authority on Friday said that the COVID-19 situation in the state continues to be of concern and still warrants measures to control the spread of the infection.

Night curfew in Manipur from 7 pm to 5 am shall be imposed in all districts. Authorised Service Centres of personal computers and mobiles may open from 10 am to 2 pm on the days when grocery shops are closed. Further, opening up will depend on the Covid scenario and the progress in vaccination,” said in the order.

Vegetable vendors (District administration should ensure that spots for vendors are clearly marked and complied) and grocery shops will open as per earlier arrangements on July 12, 15 and 18 from 7 am to 10 am.

High court may decide its activities, based on various measures taken up by the government, as deemed appropriate,” said in the order.

The Manipur government asked the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to take necessary action to implement the orders strictly.

Manipur on Friday reported 852 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 10 deaths.
