Imphal, May 04: The government of Manipur has issued helpline numbers for those affected by the ongoing law and order situation in the state. This move comes in light of the unwanted incidents that occurred during the Tribal Solidarity March on 3rd May 2023.

In order to maintain public order and tranquillity, the governor of Manipur has approved the special executive magistrate to issue a shoot-at-sight order in extreme cases. The order was issued under the provisions of law in the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) 1973, and after all forms of persuasion, warning, and reasonable forces had been exhausted.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has appealed to everyone in the state to cooperate with the government to maintain peace and harmony. He stated that in the past 24 hours, there have been incidents of clashes, vandalism, and arson, which have resulted in the loss of precious lives and damage to property. The chief minister attributed these incidents to a prevailing misunderstanding between two sections of society.

To address the situation, the state government has taken all necessary steps to control the law and order situation. Additional Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been requisitioned from the central government and deployed in sensitive areas of the state. The Indian Army and Assam Rifles have also conducted flag marches and aerial reconnaissance in certain areas of the state.

As part of its efforts to assist those affected by the ongoing situation, the Manipur government has issued helpline numbers. People who require any assistance or have any information regarding the incidents are urged to contact the helpline numbers provided. The government has also assured the public that it is doing everything possible to restore normalcy in the state.
