Imphal, Feb 09: The Manipur government has taken a significant step towards bolstering the security infrastructure by approving an increase in the allowance for the Manipur Police Commando and other state forces stationed in vulnerable areas.

Effective immediately, the allowance for Manipur Police Commando will witness a substantial rise of Rs 5000. Similarly, state forces deployed in vulnerable areas will benefit from an increment of Rs 3000 in their allowances.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, announcing the decision on social media, highlighted the government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of security personnel.

The move is aimed at recognizing and appreciating the invaluable contribution of these brave individuals in safeguarding the state.

Earlier today, the Manipur Cabinet convened to discuss various pertinent issues.

Additionally, Chief Minister N Biren Singh chaired a meeting at the state Secretariat, focusing on renewed strategies to combat drug cultivation.

Attended by key stakeholders including representatives from the Manipur Police Department, NCB, NAB, Forest Department, MARSAC, and Forensic Science, the meeting underscored the government’s unwavering resolve to tackle the menace of illegal poppy cultivation.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh reiterated the need for coordinated efforts and collaborative measures to effectively address the issue.

The government stands firm in its commitment to completely eradicate the drug menace from Manipur, ensuring a safer and more secure environment for its citizens.
