Imphal, Oct 02: Amidst ongoing unrest and sporadic incidents of protest in various parts of Manipur, the state police have taken proactive steps to maintain control. As of October 1, 2023, 135 checkpoints have been installed across different districts of Manipur, and 1,512 individuals have been detained in connection with various violations in the state.

The situation in Manipur remains tense, but law enforcement agencies are working diligently to ensure peace and stability. Security forces have conducted search operations in areas deemed vulnerable, particularly in Bishnupur and Thoubal districts. Additionally, efforts have been made to facilitate the movement of essential items, with 187 vehicles traveling along NH-2 under security escort.

In vulnerable locations, strict security measures have been implemented, and security convoys have been deployed in sensitive areas to guarantee the safe passage of vehicles. These actions are intended to prevent any further escalation of the situation and maintain order throughout the state.

One significant development is the recent arrest of four individuals in connection with the murder of two Meitei students. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) issued a press release on October 1, indicating that the accused would be presented before a designated court in Guwahati, Assam, in accordance with the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court.

The installation of checkpoints, detainment of individuals involved in violations, and efforts to secure essential supply routes are all part of a broader strategy to address the situation and protect the well-being of the community.

As the situation evolves, authorities in Manipur will continue to monitor developments closely and take necessary actions to safeguard the state’s stability and security. The commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for all remains unwavering in these challenging times.
