Imphal, Oct 02: In response to escalating violence in Ukhrul District, Manipur, the state government has taken urgent action to prevent further unrest.

Following reports of gunfire, casualties, and concerns over the potential misuse of social media to spread hate speech and incendiary content, authorities have imposed strict measures to maintain peace.

Fearing that anti-social elements could exploit platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram to incite public outrage and escalate the crisis, the government has invoked Rule 2 of the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety) Rules, 2017.
