Guwahati, Sept 27: In the early hours of Wednesday, a massive fire engulfed the East Market of Kalgachia, Assam, resulting in extensive damage to approximately 8-10 shops. Additionally, the residence of Kobbad Ali sustained severe damage due to the blaze.
Preliminary assessments estimate that property worth approximately Rs 50-60 lakh was lost in the inferno.
Fortunately, the Kalgachia fire brigade and quick public response succeeded in bringing the fire under control.

While several hundreds of shops situated nearby remained unaffected, suspicions point towards a short circuit as the potential cause of the fire. An official investigation will likely determine the exact cause of the devastating incident.
