Mumbai, Nov 29: During a recent episode of MasterChef India celebrating the International Year of Millets, Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, conveyed a special message.

The Odisha Millets Mission (OMM), initiated by the government in 2017, aims to promote the production and consumption of millets, particularly grown by tribal communities in the region.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the United Nations and the FAO for declaring 2023 as the International Year of Millets, bringing these nutritious grains into the global spotlight.

In his message, CM Naveen Patnaik highlighted the government’s commitment to reviving indigenous supergrains and integrating them into modern diets. He emphasized the significance of millets in addressing contemporary challenges and promoting a healthier lifestyle.

The government of Odisha is actively involved in creating awareness and fostering a positive outlook among the masses regarding these exceptional grains.

As part of the promotion, Odisha Millets Mission (OMM) collaborated with the MasterChef team, providing grains and engaging in discussions to showcase and celebrate the importance of millets in Odisha.

Chef Anahita Dhondy presented a challenging episode where home cooks had to identify various grains in the first round, with the winner progressing to the next stage.

In the second round, the cooks utilized millet as the main ingredient, showcasing the versatility and culinary potential of these ancient grains. The episode aims to contribute to the broader mission of recognizing and incorporating millets into contemporary diets, aligning with the global efforts to promote the International Year of Millets.
