Meghalaya students

Shillong, May 11: Two commerce students from Meghalaya have achieved top rankings in the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination 2023. Rishab Purkayastha from Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School secured the top rank in the commerce stream, while Akshat Das ranked fourth.

Purkayastha plans to pursue B.Com in accounting and finance from Anthony’s College and hopes to become an investment banker. He expanded his knowledge base by utilising online resources such as YouTube, which he believes is critical in the age of artificial intelligence.

Meanwhile, Das plans to pursue B.Com with accountancy honours and subsequently do the Company Secretary (CS) course. He also credits his success to his teachers’ encouragement and the educational YouTube videos that helped clarify his concepts.

The growth of educational platforms like YouTube has significantly aided the younger generation, as videos can be used to clarify concepts and queries at any time. Both students’ success stories show that with hard work, dedication, and the right usage of available resources, anyone can achieve their goals and succeed.

Despite facing financial challenges, both students managed to overcome them and excel academically, proving that with determination and a willingness to learn, anything is possible. Their achievements are an inspiration for all students who aspire to reach their full potential, regardless of their financial situation.
