Shillong, Dec 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited poll-bound Tripura and Meghalaya on Sunday. He attended the golden jubilee celebrations of the North Eastern Council in Shillong.

  • “Political parties that had governments for a long time, had the mindset of ‘divide’ for NE. We’ve come with the mindset of ‘divine’. Be it different communities, or regions – we are removing all divisions. Not borders of disputes, we’re building corridors of development in the NE,” said PM Modi in Shillong in his address at the North Eastern Council meeting.
  • The new infrastructure will bring more opportunities for youth. The inauguration of IIM and technology parks will help augment education as well as livelihood for the youth from the state, said PM Modi at the North Eastern Council meeting on Sunday.
  • Speaking at the North Eastern Council, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “today the teams playing in the Qatar final are between foreign countries. But, I can say with assurance that we will be organizing an event like the FIFA World Cup in India and will cheer for the tricolor.”

  • “I congratulate all brothers and sisters of Meghalaya on the connectivity, education, skill development and employment schemes that are being dedicated to the state. It is a coincidence that when the football world cup final is happening, I am addressing football fans on a football ground. On one side world’s largest football tournament is happening and we are initiating development work from a football ground,” PM Modi said.
