missing students

Chandigarh, Sept 16: Two Sikkimese students who had gone missing from Jamnagar, Gujarat, on August 28, were finally located in Rewari, Haryana, after 18 days. The teenagers, identified as Paljor Tamang and Devraj Subba, had disappeared from Gujarat’s Pranami Global School and embarked on a journey that took them across multiple states.

Initially, an extensive search operation was launched in Gujarat, but it was discovered that the students had boarded a train bound for Rajasthan and later Delhi. The breakthrough came on September 4 when a four-member police team arrived in Jaipur, Rajasthan. CCTV footage at the railway station confirmed that the students had purchased a ticket to New Delhi on August 29.

Subsequently, on September 6, the police team reached Delhi and continued their search by examining CCTV footage from various railway stations. It was suspected that the students had boarded the Sultanpur Weekly Express, which runs between Delhi and Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Over the course of ten days, both Gujarat and Delhi police meticulously combed through CCTV footage, covering several locations connecting the two cities. Their relentless efforts led them to Rewari, Haryana, situated approximately 100 kilometers from Delhi. Here, the missing students were discovered working as cleaning staff at a local hotel.

According to the Residential Commissioner’s Office in New Delhi, the students had been trying to earn some money and had limited financial resources. They refrained from using phones and avoided police stations and prominent locations to evade detection. Their journey had been marked by extensive walking as they made their way to Rewari over the past two weeks.

Upon being located by a 15-member police team from Gujarat, the students were brought to Sikkim House in New Delhi and subsequently returned to Jamnagar, Gujarat, on Friday. There, the missing person’s case was officially filed, and the students were reunited with their parents, who had been actively involved in the search operations in Delhi.

The Sikkim Government played a crucial role in supporting the search efforts, with Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay closely monitoring the situation. During an event organized by the SKM party in Barfung, South Sikkim, Chief Minister Golay shared the news of the students’ discovery in Rewari and provided insights into the extensive search operations that led to their reunion with their families.

This heartwarming outcome demonstrates the power of coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies and the unwavering determination of parents and authorities to ensure the safe return of missing individuals.
