Aizawl, Feb 09: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurated the new Computing & Skilling Facility Centre at the Electronic & ICT Academy Department of IIT-Guwahati, marking a significant step towards providing advanced technological education and training to the youth of Mizoram.

The inauguration ceremony, graced by dignitaries including Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Officiating Director of IIT Guwahati, and Dr. G. Krishnamoorthy, Dean of Industry Interaction & Special Initiatives (II&SI), underscored the crucial role of technology in shaping the future, with Chief Minister Lalduhoma lauding IIT Guwahati’s commitment to excellence in the field.

Chief Minister Lalduhoma highlighted the government’s dedication to offering abundant opportunities for the youth, expressing satisfaction in inaugurating the Computing & Skilling Centre, poised to become a focal point for innovation and skill development in Mizoram.

The Electronic & ICT Academy at IIT Guwahati, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016, has been instrumental in upskilling and reskilling initiatives, having trained over 22,000 individuals in domains such as VLSI, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber Security, bridging skill gaps nationwide.

Gaurav Trivedi, Assistant Professor & Principal Investigator, elaborated on the diverse courses and lab facilities introduced by Mizoram’s Electronics & ICT department, aligning with the government’s Hand-Holding Policy to empower individuals and foster innovation and entrepreneurship.

The ceremony witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and industry professionals, reflecting a collective commitment to embracing technological advancements for societal betterment.
