Mizoram CM summons all party-NGOs- churches meet over Covid-19

Mizoram, June 29: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has summoned a meeting of all political party, civil societies, student bodies, doctor associations and a church body of the state on July 2 to discuss the Covid-19 scenario in the state.

The development came 4 days after all political parties, NGOs and churches asked the state government to call for an all-party meet over Covid19.

The summoning of the meeting is a follow-up to the resolution passed at the joint meeting of all political parties, NGOs and churches convened by Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) in Aizawl on June 24,” the meeting notice said.

Apart from the Chief Minister, Assembly Speaker, Health Minister, Home Minister, Supply Minister, Information and Public Relation Minister and other important officials, including state Chief Secretary, will attend the coming meeting from the government side, it said.

Representatives of All Mizoram Village Council Association and Aizawl City Local Council Association will also attend the meeting, it added.

Earlier on June 24, the meeting of all NGOs in Mizoram, political party and churches had passed a resolution seeking an all-party meet to deliberate the Covid-19 scenario in the state.

Mizoram continues to grapple with the second wave of Covid-19 as the rising cases remained unabated despite prolonged lockdown for nearly 70 days.
