Aizawl, Oct 21: In Mizoram, 174 candidates have filed their nomination till the last day of nomination. Chief Minister Zoramthanga was the most prominent face to file his nomination as a nominee of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF) from Aizawl East – I (One) on Friday.

In Aizawl District, a total of 55 candidates have filed their nominations while a total of 27 candidates filed their nominations from Lunglei District. In Siaha District, 9 candidates submitted their nominations while 10 candidates filed their nominations from Champhai District.

13 candidates filed their nominations in Kolasib District while 15 candidates submitted their nominations from Serchhip District. In Lawngtlai District, 13 candidates filed their papers while 14 candidates submitted their nominations in Mamit District. A total of 11 candidates filed their nomination in Saitual District while four candidates filed their papers from Khawzawl District. In Hnhathial, a total of three candidates filed their nominations.

Scrutiny will take place on Saturday.

With the end of the nomination period, hectic campaigning is taking place across the state with political parties trying to woo the voters.

Mizoram will go to polls on November 7 to elect 40 members of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly.
