Gangtok, March 21: In a significant development in Sikkim’s political arena, Singtam Khamdong MLA MK Sharma, along with retired Superintendent Engineer Sonam Dorjee Bhutia from Tathangchen and Tara Bhattarai, has joined the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party.
MK Sharma’s move to join the opposition SDF occurred during a mass joining event held at Khamdong under the Singtam Khamdong constituency on March 21.
Previously serving as the Health Minister in the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) government, MK Sharma resigned from his ministerial post over an immigration controversy early last year.

Yesterday, Sikkim witnessed another notable political shift as several key figures, including Raju Basnett, former Sports and Youth Affairs Secretary, Chewang Gyatso Bhutia, former Rural Development Department Secretary, Gopal Baraily, former MLA, Bharti Sharma, former SKM Working President, and Hemendra Adhikari, SDF party’s CLC President, joined the ruling SKM party.
