Imphal, July 16: Justices N Kotiswar Singh and R Mahadevan were elevated to the Supreme Court on Tuesday, as announced by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on X.

Their oaths will restore the Supreme Court to its full sanctioned strength of 34 judges, including the Chief Justice.

Justice N Kotiswar Singh, currently the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir, has made history as the first judge from Manipur appointed to the Supreme Court.

Justice R Mahadevan, currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, was also appointed.

The Supreme Court Collegium recommended their names on July 11.
