Imphal, Oct 24: The All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM) is launching protests in Manipur’s hill districts against the extension of the internet ban. This protest, consisting of picketing government offices from October 24-25, is the first step in demanding the immediate lifting of the internet shutdown in peaceful areas of the state.
The students are also demanding the prompt declaration of the interview results held in September 2021 for the appointment of 190 assistant professor posts in government colleges in Manipur.
The ANSAM has warned that if their legitimate demands are not met, they will escalate their agitation against the state government. They have urged their constituent units and subordinate bodies to actively participate in the planned agitation within their respective areas.
While protesting, the Naga student body has called for cooperation and understanding from government officials and the general public.
In a statement, the ANSAM acknowledged the government’s efforts to condemn prolonged conflicts and restore peace in Manipur. They also expect the government to address the long-standing grievances of the public.
The internet ban extension in Manipur has raised concerns about restrictions on communication and access to information, which is a significant issue for students, businesses, and the general public. This protest aims to draw attention to these concerns and advocate for the restoration of internet services in peaceful areas.

The ANSAM’s decision to protest reflects the frustration and discontent among students and citizens regarding the prolonged internet ban and the delay in appointing assistant professors. They seek a resolution to these issues and hope to engage with the government to address their concerns. The outcome of this protest and any subsequent government actions will determine the direction of these grievances.
