Kohima, Sept 27: The Nagaland government has taken a precautionary step by issuing a travel advisory to restrict vehicular movement between Mon district in Nagaland and Sonari in Assam. This action is in response to the tense situation that has arisen in Charaideo district of Assam following an alleged vehicle accident in Mon district.

According to an official notice from the office of the Deputy Commissioner in Mon, Nagaland, the advisory is intended to prevent any untoward incidents in the region.

The notice states, “As a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident in the region, all vehicles engaged in public transport and related activities are hereby advised to refrain from traveling from Mon district to Assam/Dimapur and vice-versa via Sonari, Charaideo, Assam route until the situation returns to normalcy.”

The notice further advises individual and private vehicle owners to avoid using the Sonari-Charaideo route and opt for alternate routes until the situation stabilizes.

The tension between the two states escalated after the discovery of the half-naked bodies of two youths in Mon district, Nagaland, on September 25. This incident has raised concerns and prompted authorities to take preventive measures.

The travel advisory is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of travelers and preventing any potential conflicts or clashes in the region. It underscores the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the border areas between Nagaland and Assam during this tense period.
