Kohima, July 27: Heavy rains triggered a massive landslide in Kohima, damaging at least four houses and rendering 20 families homeless, officials reported.
The landslide occurred in Pezielietsie Colony in Ward-3 North Block and also partially damaged nearby houses.
Newly-elected councillors of the Kohima Municipal Council, led by Chairman Neikhozo Suokhrie and Deputy Chairman Khrielievie Chusi, visited the affected area.

Suokhrie expressed serious concern, noting that the area is a sinking zone.
He announced plans for a pilot project to construct a retaining wall and drainage system in consultation with the state government.
Ward councillor Ruokuovolie Rutsa mentioned that this is the first landslide of such magnitude in the area since 2017 and that locals are assisting the affected families.
