Kohima, March 25: In a significant move ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and leaders from the National People’s Party (NPP) met with Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and other party members in Nagaland.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to pledge support to the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
As part of the NDA coalition, the NPP has decided to throw its full weight behind Dr. Chumben Murry, the NDPP-backed candidate for the Nagaland Lok Sabha seat.

Conrad K Sangma expressed his appreciation for the BJP’s decision to back NPP candidates for the two Lok Sabha seats in Meghalaya.

He also noted that NDA allies are aligning in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur in preparation for the parliamentary elections.
Just recently, the BJP declared its support for NPP candidates contesting in the Shillong and Tura Lok Sabha constituencies.
Sangma further mentioned that Ampareen Lyngdoh, the NPP candidate for the Shillong seat, has garnered support from the Opposition TMC in various constituencies, indicating a broader coalition of political forces rallying behind the NPP’s candidates.
Expressing gratitude for the support received, Sangma emphasized the ongoing efforts to connect with voters and campaign vigorously for their candidates.
Despite the backing from multiple parties, Sangma acknowledged that there’s still much groundwork to cover and remained optimistic about the outcome of the elections.
Overall, the alliance between the NPP and NDPP, supported by other political entities, underscores the collaborative spirit among parties within the NDA coalition, aiming to secure victory in the Lok Sabha polls.
