Nagaland Army Day

Kohima, Jan 16: A group of Nagaland youth and Assam Rifles celebrated the 75th Army Day withinside the most unique manner by hoisting the National Flag, Indian Army Flag, and Assam Rifles Flag on Mount Saramati, the highest peak in Nagaland on the occasion of the 75th Indian Army Day, being celebrated across the country on January 15, 2023.

To place forth their passion for patriotism, nationalist feelings, and love for the Indian Army 17 youngsters, including 2 girls, from various parts of Nagaland along with 31 personnel, including 2 Riflewomen, of the 38th Battalion Assam Rifles led an expedition to Mount Saramati. The expedition was flagged off on 10 Jan 2023.

Mt Saramati, is a peak rising above the surrounding peaks alongside the mountainous border of India & Myanmar. It is placed close to Thanamir Village withinside the Kiphire District of Nagaland.

With an altitude of 3,826 m and a prominence of 2,885 m, Saramati is one of the distinguished peaks of Southeast Asia. It is the abode of one of the Pristine Forest of Nagaland and house a large variety of flora and fauna.

Assam Rifles in Nagaland responded to the requests of the youngsters and planned the joint expedition under the aegis of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North), said a press note issued by the PRO (Defence), Kohima & Imphal.
