Neeraj Chopra

Sports, Aug 28: Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra secured the gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw final at the World Athletics Championships, setting a distance of 88.17 meters. Joining him on the podium with the silver medal was Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, who threw a distance of 87.82 meters. After the competition, the two competitors shared a touching moment on the field, showcasing the camaraderie that goes beyond the track.

Neeraj and Nadeem have a history of pushing each other to excel in their sport. Their bond extends beyond the competition, and they have often found themselves on the same podium at various events.

Despite being the reigning Commonwealth Games Gold medalist, Pakistan’s Nadeem aimed to surpass the 90-meter mark once again but fell short in this event. After the men’s javelin throw final in Budapest concluded, Neeraj invited Nadeem for a customary photograph on the field.

Nadeem swiftly joined Neeraj for the photograph, and Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic, who secured the bronze medal with a throw of 86.67 meters, also stood alongside them.

Another heartwarming moment that circulated widely on social media was when both Neeraj and Nadeem congratulated each other on their achievements during the event.

In the men’s javelin throw final, Neeraj, an Olympic champion, began with a foul but quickly ascended to the top spot with his second throw. From that point onwards, he maintained his lead, securing the gold. Nadeem retained his second position throughout the competition, solidifying a 1-2 finish for the Indo-Pak duo.

This victory marked another instance of Chopra outperforming Nadeem, as he had previously won gold at the 2016 South Asian Games. Since then, these two athletes have continued to challenge and inspire each other on the field.
