NFR to resume train services in Assam from Feb 22

Assam, Feb 13: The Northeast Frontier railway (NFR) has decided to resume normal passenger train services in Assam from February 22.

As per a press release, train operating from between Assam’s Dhubri to Bengal’s Siliguri will commence from February 22.

Meanwhile, one pair of DEMU Special trains will run daily between Dhubri to Siliguri Jn. while another Mail Express will be run tri-weekly between the Bengal’s Alipurdwar Jn to Assam’s Silighat Jn.via Dhubri, Fakiragram, New Bongaigaon, Goalpara and Guwahati.

The Siliguri-Dhubri DEMU special will leave Siliguri Jn. daily at 5 in the morning and will arrive at Dhubri at 12 noon while the same DEMU Special will be back and leave Dhubri daily at 12.15 PM and reached Siliguri Jn at 9.55 PM.

The other train bearing No 05417 will leave from Alipurduar Jn. at 5 in the evening on every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday and will arrive at Dhubri at 7.45 pm and will leave Dhubri at 08.10 PM and reached Guwahati at 4.30 AM on next day and finally will arrive Silghat Jn at 9 AM.

While the train no 05418 will leave Silghat Jn at 05.40 in the evening every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and will arrive at Guwahati at 22.08 PM and will leave Guwahati at 22.28 PM.

This train will arrive at Dhubri at 4.25 AM on the next day and finally arrived at Alipurduar Jn at 7.45 AM.

The tri-weekly train running from Alipurduar Jn to Silghat Jn and vice-versa will have the commercial stoppages at New Coochbehar, Tufanganj, Dhubri, Gauripur, Golakganj Jn., Fakiragram Jn., New Bongaigaon, Kamakhya, Guwahati, Jagiroad, Chaparmukh Jn., Nagaon, Jakhalabandha.

Apart from that, the NF Railway has also decided to run a few other short-distance trains between Rangia-New Tinsukia and Ledo.

It will also run a train between Lumding and Tinsukia as well as between Guwahati and Dibrugarh town.

It is to be mentioned that the inter-state train services will resume almost after one year which was stopped due to the nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, the NF Railway has introduced Kishan Rail Special Train between Tarakeswar and Dimapur.

The 00329 Tarakeswar-Dimapur Kishan Rail Special Train (weekly) will leave Tarakeswar at 10:00 hours every Friday to reach Dimapur the next day; and during the return journey, the 00330 Dimapur -Tarakeswar Kishan Rail Special Train (weekly) will leave Dimapur at 21:30 hours every Saturday from January 30, .2021 and reach Tarakeswar at 7:10 hours on Monday.

The train will stop at Bandel, Ambika Kalna, Nabadwip Dham, Purbasthali, Katwa, Azimgunge, Azimgunge City, Malda Town, New Jalpaiguri, New Coochbehar, New Bongaigaon, Guwahati and Lumding en route in both directions for loading/unloading of parcels.

As per the announcement made in the Union Budget 2020-21, the Indian Railways has started running Kisan Rail train services, to transport perishables and agri-product, including milk, meat and fish.

The primary objective of running Kisan Rail trains is to increase the income in the Farm sector by connecting the production centers to the markets and consumption centers.
