Niagara Falls

Ontario, May 1: The Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada, illuminated with the Indian tricolour in solidarity with the country amid the massive increase in Covid-19 cases. India recorded over 4 lakh cases for the first time in a new global record in the last 24 hours.

“India is currently facing a surge in cases and losses of life resulting from Covid-19. In a display of solidarity and hope for India, Niagara Falls will be illuminated tonight from 9:30 to 10 pm in orange, white and green, the colours of the flag of India. #StayStrongIndia,” Niagara Parks had said in a post.

Earlier this week, landmark buildings in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) illuminated the Indian tricolour as well. Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the Adnoc headquarters in Abu Dhabi were lit up with the Indian flag. Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island also lit up with tricolour in support of India.

After reporting 3 lakh daily Covid-19 cases since the past nine days, India recorded over 4 lakh cases for the first time in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said. India, currently reeling under the deadly second wave of Covid-19, had recorded 1 lakh cases in a day for the first time around three weeks ago.
