Agartala, July 12: The North East Gas Grid (NEGG) project in Tripura, aimed at synchronizing gas supply across Northeast India, is set to be completed by March 2025, according to state officials.
Managed by Indradhanus Gas Grid Ltd (IGGL), a joint venture involving GAIL, IOCL, OIL, NRL, and ONGC, the project involves laying a 253-kilometre gas pipeline across seven districts of Tripura.
Currently, 105 kilometres of the pipeline have been completed, with the remainder expected to be finished by March 2025, pending the final stages of land acquisition, pipeline welding, and laying.

Delays in compensation for land acquisition have been resolved, with district magistrates now processing payments. The NEGG aims to enhance gas supply reliability for industrial and power generation needs.
Additionally, Tripura has granted ONGC exploration licenses in five blocks, potentially expanding gas reserves currently estimated at 8 billion cubic metres.
