Mobile charger cable found in urinary bladder of a man

Bizarre incident: Mobile charger cable found in the urinary bladder of a 30-year-old man

Guwahati, June 6: In a bizarre incident, a surgeon of Assam’s capital city Guwahati took out a mobile charger cable from the urinary bladder of a 30-year-old man.

Dr Walliul Islam – a consultant surgeon at a private hospital in Guwahati had conducted the surgery of the 30-year-old man recently and took out a mobile charger cable from his urinary bladder despite the man misleading the doctor into operating on his stomach.

Dr Walliul Islam said that the man came to him a few days back and told him that he was having stomach pain after consuming a headphone cable by mistake.

The doctors firstly performed an endoscopy by examining his stool but she did not find a cable in his stomach.

Dr Walliul Islam decided to conduct X-ray while the 30-year-old man was sleeping on the operation table and the doctor was shocked after seeing the result.

Following it, the doctors decided to do surgery on the person.

Dr Walliul Islam said that, after 25 years of experience in surgery, he was surprised and shocked by the incident.

“I continue to be surprised and shocked by instances like this where my intellectual and surgical skills are challenged. A 30-year-old man came to me with complaints of pain abdomen and a history of accidental ingestion of headphones. I operated upon him to find nothing in his Gastrointestinal tract, but instead discovered a mobile phone charger cord in his Urinary Bladder. All of you must have guessed the entry point and route (it entered through his penile urethra to his urinary bladder), his mental health remains a question. Surgery was successful and the patient is recovering and everything is possible on this earth, indeed,” Dr Walliul Islam said.

Dr Islam further said that, the man habituated to insert such things through his penis for sexual pleasure.

Madhav Dev Jayanti – This too shall pass!

Madhav Dev Jayanti – This too shall pass!

June 6, 2020: Madhav Dev Jayanti, a festival celebrated predominantly in Upper Assam and Majuli, is observed in almost every household in the region.

Every year on the Master’s birth anniversary he is offered Sarai (সৰাই), which consists of chickpeas, grams and fruits and is worshipped upon.

People accumulate in prayer houses or নামঘৰ to worship the Master. Devotees sing hymns in the name of the Master. These songs are known as Naam.

And like every form of worship, the crowd of devotees disperse after prasad distribution.

In many places, people avoid non-vegetarian food, light up lamps in the worship of the Master.

Madhav Dev is the most prominent and ardent follower of Srimanta Sankardev and preceptor of Ekasarana Dharma. He is not only known for his loyalty to his guru, but also his brilliant artistic qualities.

He was born in the Lakhimpur district of Upper Assam in May 1489. Although initially, he was a follower of Shaktism, whose philosophy lies in the manifestation of “Shakti” or strength on the supreme goddess, on meeting Sankardev he was converted to Ekasarana Dharma.

Ekasarana Dharma etymologically means taking shelter in one religion. It rejects the idea of Vedic ritualism and propagates the philosophy of Bhakti (devotion) to Krishna through listening and singing hymns in his name.

Its simplicity and accessibility soon attracted a huge number of followers from people belonging to both Hinduism and outside back in the 15th century.

This year, however, would be different than all others. With the lockdown in place followed by the Covid-19 pandemic, people won’t gather in Namghars and celebrate the occasion together.

At home, however, they would still worship the Master, pray for the calamity to be over and joy to return to the lives of people all over the world.

But, this too shall pass!

With the grace of the Master, when these trying times will be over, people from all over the region will come together once again and sing hymns of joy and pray for the well-being of mankind.

Plea to relocate brus in Jampui Hills refused by CM Deb

CM Deb Rejects Mizoram CM’s Plea to Relocate Brus in Jampui Hills:

The Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb refused to put up with the request made by the Chief Minister of Mizoram, Zoramthanga, of reconsideration of assembling the people from Brus in the Jampui Hills and some of the areas of North Tripura on Monday.

He said that whatever the people of the state want would be implemented. Since the year 1997, a huge number of Brus have been living in relief camps in North Tripura district. Due to clashes of ethnicity, they had relocated and moved away from Mizoram. There were several attempts to make them citizens again. However, it was fruitless.

Now, the number of people who are displaced has risen to about 34,000. On January 16, an agreement was signed by representatives of the Brus and the Tripura, Mizoram and the Central governments in New Delhi allowed these tribal people to settle in Tripura.

In a letter, Zoramthanga said Biplab Deb, “There has been ethnic tension and upheaval between the Mizos and Brus both in Mizoram and Tripura and any strain between the two communities in Tripura will no doubt have repercussions in Mizoram and vice versa, which could defeat the very purpose and spirit of the agreement.” This was on May 29.

He requested Deb to reconsider immediately and cancel the proposal for resettling the Brus at the Jampui Hills. It was the traditional habitat of the Mizos in Tripura.”I do not know how he can make such a request. What the people of Tripura want would be implemented. We live in a federal structure. If he had anything to say, he should have told it to the Union home minister or the prime minister.”, Deb informed when asked about the issue here.

Zoramthanga mailed a letter on this issue to the Home Minister Amit Shah on that day itself. The letters to Deb and Shah followed a recent demonstration by the members of an NGO of the Mizos who are not supportive of the Bru resettlement in Jampui Hills, claiming that it would have a socio-economic, and political impact. It will result in inter-community clashes and exploitation of the available resources. Mizoram Bru Displaced People’s Forum General Secretary Bruno Msha said, “We consider Zoramthanga’s request a veiled threat to the Brus who are living in Mizoram for ages.” Two out of the proposed twelve sites for resettlements were agreed upon by all. “They had some objections about the other spots and a discussion is on,” he stated.

On January 17, the Chief Minister of Tripura had said, “It will take at least six months to resettle the 34000 odd members of the community.” Each Bru family would get a plot of 1,200-square-foot and Rs 1.5 lakh to build a house, a four lakh rupees fixed deposit and Rs 5,000 per month as per agreement. They will also be getting free ration for the next two years. A total amount of about Rs 600 crore was sanctioned to resettle them within Tripura.

The agreement was signed about a month and a half after the ninth attempt to return Brus failed. Of the targeted 4,447 families, the chief minister had said only 350 could be repatriated. The Bru issue started in September 1997. The killing of a forest guard in the Dampa Tiger Reserve in Mizoram by the insurgents of the Bru National Liberation Front on October 21 that year, aggravated the situation. The first attempt of repatriation of Brus from Tripura was made in November 2009.

Covid-19 a blessing in disguise? World Environment Day

Covid-19 – a blessing in disguise? Happy World Environment Day

Is Covid-19 a blessing in disguise? At a time when it has affected millions of people worldwide, pollution levels in air, water and soil have decreased drastically all over.

Even if for some time, is the “corona crisis helping our planet breathe again?”

Well, it indeed is. Today we have cleaner water in rivers and oceans, fresher air to breathe. Wildlife and birds are returning home. Skies are clearer than ever before. Nature is once again healing itself.

It is at such times when we need to realise the importance of Mother Nature and make a firm resolve to take care of her health even after this lockdown period is over.

It is high time now to give time to Nature and help it heal itself.

‘Time for Nature’ is exactly what we need to take out from our busy schedules and monotonous lives as Mother Nature not only provides us with the habitat to live, but it also gives us fresh air to breathe, clean water to drink and so much more. It brings solace to lonely minds, helps one fight stress, depression and other chronic diseases. It strengthens our immune system and is the reason behind our existence. Nature’s presence and involvement makes us healthier and happier.

We shall ever be indebted to her for her unconditional and infinite amount of love, care and affection. The only way to repay the debt is perhaps by saving the Mother from the destruction caused by human intervention.

The United Nations General Assembly designated 5th June to be celebrated as World Environment Day every year. On the same day, which also happened to be the first day of the Stockholm Conference, another resolution to create the UNEP was also adopted.

Since then this day is celebrated every year as the UN’s principal vehicle of spreading awareness of the environment and enhancing political attention and action towards it.

“The foods we eat, the air we breathe, the water we drink and the climate that makes our planet habitable all come from nature.

Yet, these are exceptional times in which nature is sending us a message:
To care for ourselves we must care for nature.

It’s time to wake up. To take notice. To raise our voices.
It’s time to build back better for People and Planet.

This World Environment Day, it’s Time for Nature.” (UNEP)

Over the years human intervention has been a major source of polluting the environment in uncountable ways. Air, Water, Soil pollution have been a constant hazard to animal and plant life. Every year the numbers would simply increase.

But with the lockdown in place due to Covid-19 pandemic, the figures have changed. There is an anomaly!

On this day, let’s pledge to be better human beings, to continue the good work that’s happening. Let’s pledge to plant more trees, cause less pollution, reduce, reuse and recycle, conserve electricity and water, educate ourselves and others about our environment, protect animal and plant lives.

Let’s pledge to save our environment together.

Happy World Environment Day!
