Itanagar, June 13: Pema Khandu will be sworn in as Arunachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister for the third consecutive term on Thursday at 11 am. This follows his unanimous election as the leader of the BJP legislature party in a meeting held the previous day.
A host of top BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister JP Nadda, will be attending the oath-taking ceremony.
In the recent assembly elections, Khandu led the BJP to a significant victory, securing 46 out of 60 seats in the state legislative assembly.
WHO IS PEMA KHANDU?
Pema Khandu, 44, is a prominent BJP leader in Arunachal Pradesh.
He entered politics in 2016, five years after the death of his father, former Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, in a helicopter crash. Khandu was elected unopposed from his father’s seat, Mukto.

In 2016, he became Chief Minister, succeeding Nabam Tuki.
Later that year, he led a group of Congress MLAs to join the People’s Party of Arunachal, becoming Chief Minister again, and by December, he and his group rejoined the BJP.
