New Delhi, Oct 10: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed on Tuesday that he had received a phone call from his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu. During the call, Netanyahu briefed Modi on the current situation in Israel following a series of attacks by the terrorist group Hamas.

In response to the call, PM Modi expressed his gratitude on social media platform X and conveyed India’s unwavering support for Israel during these challenging times. He also reaffirmed India’s strong condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

“I thank Prime Minister @netanyahu for his phone call and providing an update on the ongoing situation. The people of India stand firmly with Israel in this difficult hour. India strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” Prime Minister Modi posted.

This communication between the two leaders came as the conflict between Israel and Hamas entered its fourth day. The toll from the ongoing violence has exceeded 1,500 on both sides, with approximately 900 people losing their lives in Israel, including 260 individuals who were tragically shot by Hamas gunmen during a music festival near the Gaza border. In Palestine, nearly 690 people have died as a result of retaliatory actions by Tel Aviv.

The United Nations Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has reported that more than 187,500 people have been displaced in Gaza since the beginning of the conflict. This humanitarian crisis further underscores the urgency of finding a resolution to the ongoing violence and suffering in the region.
