Agartala, Oct 30: Agartala-Akhaura Cross Border Rail Link Project is poised to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, on November 1. The joint inauguration of the Agartala-Akhaura Cross Border Rail Link Project and the Khulna-Mongla Port Rail Line Project will take place at 11 AM in a virtual ceremony.

This historic event is expected to include the participation of the Union Minister of Railways in virtual mode, along with the Chairperson of the Railway Board and the Chief Managing Director of IRCON, a Government of India undertaking. The trial run for this project is slated for tomorrow.

Importantly, both Prime Minister Modi of India and Prime Minister Hasina of Bangladesh are expected to inaugurate the Agartala-Akhaura Cross Border Rail Link Project. However, the inauguration on the Bangladesh side will be marked as the construction work on the Indian side is still ongoing.

In an effort to expedite the Agartala-Akhaura Bangladesh connectivity project, Indian Railways has demonstrated its commitment by allocating a substantial amount of Rs. 153.84 crores from its budget. This proactive decision underscores the importance of this rail link project for enhancing connectivity and trade relations between India and Bangladesh.
