It motivates countless youngsters to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. We are committed to providing the right environment for startups to flourish.”

During a recent event, Goyal shared an amusing yet insightful story about the early days of his startup journey.

A video of Goyal’s speech has gone viral on social media. In the clip, he recalls launching Zomato 16 years ago, in 2008, and how his father doubted his decision.

“When I told my dad about starting Zomato, he said, ‘Janta hai tera baap kaun hai?’ which basically meant ‘You can’t do a startup.’ Coming from a small town in Punjab, this was the mindset,” Goyal shared.

“When I started Zomato in 2008, my father used to say ‘Tu janta hai tera baap kaun hai?’ as he thought I could never do a startup given our humble background. This government and their initiatives enabled a small-town boy like me to build something like Zomato, which employs lakhs of people today!” reads the caption.

The event, held on May 20 at Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s residence, brought together innovators, intellectuals, startup leaders, and IT professionals from across the nation.

Deepinder Goyal, who married model Grecia Munoz this year, also made an appearance as a judge on the third season of Shark Tank India.

His stories and achievements continue to inspire many in the entrepreneurial community.
