New Delhi, Feb 07: In a sharp jibe at the Congress party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi predicted that they wouldn’t secure more than 40 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, branding the party as “outdated” during his address to the Rajya Sabha.

Referring to a challenge from West Bengal regarding Congress’s electoral performance, Modi remarked, “I pray that you can secure 40 seats,” implying scepticism about their prospects.

Taking a swipe at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the Prime Minister humorously thanked him, noting the entertainment his speeches provided during sessions, adding a light-hearted touch to the proceedings.

Recalling past incidents, Modi emphasized the attempts made to silence the Prime Minister’s voice, asserting that such efforts would not succeed, given the strong support of the people.

Commenting on Kharge’s extended speaking time in the Rajya Sabha, Modi quipped about the absence of two particular members, suggesting Kharge seized the opportunity, reminiscent of the song “Aisa mauka phir kaha milega.”

The Prime Minister lamented Congress’s decline, attributing it to their outdated ideology and expressing sympathy rather than delight over their diminished stature.

He concluded by asserting the preparedness of his government and reiterating the need for progressive thinking in contemporary politics, highlighting the changing dynamics in Indian governance and society.
