3. Previously, PM Modi defeated AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal by over 4 lakh votes in 2014 and Samajwadi Party candidate Shalini Yadav by more than 4.8 lakh votes in 2019.
Varanasi, June 04: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured the Varanasi seat for a third consecutive term, defeating Congress candidate Ajay Rai by a reduced margin of 1.5 lakh votes.
PM Modi garnered 6,12,970 votes, while Ajay Rai received 4,60,457 votes.
In comparison, PM Modi had previously defeated AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal by over 4 lakh votes in 2014 and triumphed over Samajwadi Party candidate Shalini Yadav by more than 4.8 lakh votes in 2019.
This marks his narrowest victory margin since 2014.

In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi dominated the Varanasi constituency.
Congress fielded Ajay Rai against Modi in both elections, but Rai was defeated each time.
Additionally, in the 2014 elections, Arvind Kejriwal also contested against Modi in Varanasi.
