Guwahati, October 10: Police seized a huge quantity of drugs worth Rs 4 crore in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district. Police had arrested two drug peddlers in connection with it.

According to the reports, based on intelligence input, Karbi Anglong district police led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bokajan had set up several Naka checking at Khatkhati, Borpathar, and Dilai area on Saturday.

When a vehicle bearing registration number NL-07H-7110 fled away from the Khatkhati area and moved towards the Borpathar area, the police team of the Borpathar police station trapped the vehicle in the Silanijan area.

During the search, the police team had recovered 698 grams of heroin from the vehicle.

“The Officer-in-Charge of Khatkhati police station had shared information that, a vehicle bearing Nagaland registration number might be carried drugs and based on that information we set up several Naka checking. We had detected the vehicle at Silonijan area and during thorough checking we recovered 698 grams of drugs from the vehicle. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 4-5 crore. We have arrested two persons,” the police officer said.

The arrested persons were identified as Bikash Thapa and Amon Dulhal.

Assam Police tweeted – “In yet another major success in #WarOnDrugs, @karbianglongpol  detained a vehicle from the Silonijan area and recovered 698 grams of Heroin, concealed in a hidden compartment behind door panels. Two persons have been apprehended & further investigation is on.”
