Itanagar, April 07: The People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) disclosed its plan for a post-poll alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Arunachal Pradesh, announced by PPA Secretary General Kaling Jerang during a press conference in the state capital.

The decision came after discussions with NEDA convener and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, aiming to solidify the alliance under NEDA’s banner.

While PPA will field its candidates against BJP contestants in the Assembly elections due to the absence of PPA MLAs, a commitment to maintain an alliance with BJP post-election was affirmed.

Jerang clarified, “We are unable to share the candidates; hence we have failed to maintain an alliance during the pre-poll. But we will maintain our alliance post-poll.”

Additionally, PPA decided to support BJP candidates in the parliamentary polls, foregoing its nominations for the two parliamentary seats in the state.

Emphasizing the cooperation, Jerang noted that eight PPA candidates from Assembly constituencies under the Arunachal East Parliamentary Constituency and four from those under the Arunachal West constituency are set to support the BJP MP candidates.
