New Delhi, July 21: Droupadi Murmu has become the 15th President of India. The counting of votes for the recently-held 15th Presidential election was held at the Parliament House. The counting of votes for Presidential Election 2022 commenced at 11 am on Thursday with the results of the contest between BJP-led NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu and joint Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha declared today.

The Presidential Election Results 2022 declared who has succeeded incumbent Ram Nath Kovind to become the country`s 15th President. The presidential election counting was held in Room No 63 in Parliament House and the result will be declared immediately after the counting.

Outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind congratulated and extended his best wishes to Droupadi Murmu on being elected as the 15th President of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated President-elect Droupadi Murmu and said that she has emerged as a ray of hope for our citizens, especially the poor, marginalised and the downtrodden.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, “I join my fellow citizens in congratulating Smt Droupadi Murmu on her victory in the Presidential Election 2022. India hopes that as the 15th President of the Republic she functions as the Custodian of the Constitution without fear or favour.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Droupadi Murmu’s victory is a milestone in the direction of realizing the resolve of Antyodaya and empowerment of tribal society.
