Bhubaneswar, July 07: The Jagannath Rath Yatra, a renowned festival in Puri, Odisha, commences on Sunday, July 7, spanning two days this year, a rarity last observed in 1971. President Droupadi Murmu will grace the occasion, drawing in lakhs of devotees.

Special Arrangements for President Murmu’s Visit

Given President Murmu’s ties to Mayurbhanj district, the newly elected Odisha government has arranged special protocols to ensure her visit enhances the festival’s grandeur and proceeds smoothly. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has declared a public holiday on July 7 and 8 across the state.

Rituals and Ceremonies of the Rath Yatra

The chariots stand ready at the Lion’s Gate of Jagannath temple, awaiting their journey to Gundicha temple, where they will stay for a week. Devotees will pull the chariots on Sunday afternoon.
