New Delhi, March 31: During a massive opposition rally at Ramlila Maidan in the capital on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of manipulating the Lok Sabha election in collaboration with a few wealthy individuals, even before it commenced, resulting in the arrest of two players.

Alongside his speech, Sonia Gandhi, also present at the demonstration, sat alongside Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and Kalpana Soren, spouse of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, both of whom were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate.

The rally, initially organized to protest Kejriwal’s arrest, evolved into a significant gathering of INDIA bloc leaders in preparation for the upcoming election.

Rahul Gandhi emphasized that the current election transcends mere votes; it is a battle to safeguard the Constitution and democracy.

He cautioned against undiscerning voting, warning that the “match-fixer” would emerge victorious. Gandhi cited the Congress party’s bank accounts being “frozen” as evidence of Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to suppress opposition participation in the election.

He criticized Modi for incarcerating two chief ministers just before the polls and freezing their party’s accounts, questioning the timing and motive behind these actions.

Furthermore, Gandhi highlighted a statement by a BJP leader suggesting a potential alteration to the Constitution once they secure a majority.

He stressed the Constitution’s significance as the voice of the people and cautioned against any attempts to undermine it, as it would jeopardize the nation’s future.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with an alleged excise policy scam in the capital.

Hemant Soren faced arrest on January 31 in a land scam case. Despite internal discontent among INDIA bloc partners regarding seat allocation, their collective demonstration against Kejriwal’s arrest conveyed a message of solidarity.

Sonia Gandhi engaged with Sunita Kejriwal and Kalpana Soren during the rally, fostering unity within the opposition.

Kalpana Soren had met with Sunita and Sonia Gandhi the day before, upon her arrival in Delhi on Saturday.
