Mumbai, Feb 26: Renowned ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas passed away at the age of 72 after battling a prolonged illness. His team confirmed his demise, stating that he breathed his last on the morning of February 26 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

Udhas, born on May 17, 1951, in Gujarat, began his musical journey at a young age, gaining fame in the 1980s and 1990s with his soulful renditions.

Apart from his musical accomplishments, Udhas was also recognized for his philanthropic endeavors.

In 1989, he released the album ‘Nabeel,’ the first copy of which was auctioned for Rs 1 lakh, with the proceeds donated to the Cancer Patients Aid Association.

He was also actively involved with the Parents Thalassemia Unit.

Throughout his career, Udhas released numerous albums and singles, with songs like ‘Chitthi Aayi Hai,’ ‘Aur Ahista,’ and ‘Jeeye To Jeeye Kaise’ becoming timeless classics that continue to resonate with audiences.

His daughter, Nayaab Udhas, confirmed his passing in a statement, expressing deep sorrow over his demise and highlighting his significant contributions to music and philanthropy.
