Rs 17 crore narcotics seized in Assam's Karimganj district, 4 held

Assam, Nov 29: In a joint operation with the BSF, Assam Police seized a huge quantity of narcotics worth Rs 17 crore from two separate places in Assam’s Karimganj.

A BSF spokesman informed that acting on intelligence input, the border guards belonging to Mizoram and Cachar frontier along with Assam police raided the house of Samsun Noor, a resident of Purba Balia village in Karimganj district near the Bangladesh border.

In Karimganj, Assam Police and BSF officials recovered 2,59,200 Yaba tablets (synthetic narcotics) packed in 26 packets. A motorcycle was also seized during the operation. The market value of the seized drug is worth Rs 12.96 crore. Noor was then arrested.

In another operation, the BSF seized brown sugar worth nearly Rs 4 crore from a car at Nivia in the Ratabari police station area of Karimganj district on Saturday night. Three men were arrested in this connection.
