Aizawl, Dec 30: Over 150 Myanmarese soldiers have entered Mizoram in the past 24 hours amidst intense fighting near the border.

On December 29, a total of 151 Myanmarese soldiers crossed into Indian territory in Mizoram, with reports suggesting that they fled to Tuisentlang in Lawngtlai in two separate groups.

The incursion involved 83 soldiers on December 29, followed by another group of 68 soldiers entering Mizoram the next day. The dense forest areas along the Indo-Myanmarese border raise concerns that additional Myanmarese soldiers may remain untraced.

Assam Rifles troops reportedly guided the fleeing Myanmarese soldiers to Tuisentlang, and it is anticipated that, after proper interrogation, they will be repatriated to Myanmar in the coming days.

Sources indicate that heavy fighting is ongoing near the border in Chin state between the Myanmarese army and the Arakan Army rebels.

Although the current situation on the ground remains unconfirmed, the mass influx of Myanmarese soldiers into Indian territory suggests that the Arakan Army insurgents may be gaining an advantage in the conflict.

The development raises questions about the regional security situation and the potential for further escalation in the conflict between the military and insurgent groups in Myanmar.
