Imphal, June 24: In a concerted effort to enhance security and maintain law and order in Manipur, security forces have ramped up their operations across the state’s hill and valley districts.

These comprehensive search operations and area domination exercises have led to significant recoveries of arms and ammunition, as well as the dismantling of illegal bunkers.

This crackdown underscores the ongoing commitment to curbing illegal activities and fortifying peace in the region.

One of the major operations took place in the Khoidum Mamang Leikai area of Kakching District. Here, security personnel seized an extensive cache of weapons and equipment, highlighting the scale of illegal armament in the area.

The seized items included one country-made pistol, four 36 MMKI hand grenades without detonators, one Chinese hand grenade, five tube launchers, one carbine with a magazine containing ten live rounds, eight tear smoke shells, one smoke grenade, and one Baofeng wireless set complete with batteries and chargers.

This operation not only removed a substantial amount of dangerous weapons from circulation but also disrupted the communication capabilities of illegal armed groups operating in the area.

In addition to the arms seizure in Kakching District, security forces also conducted a successful operation in Old Bijang, Kangpokpi District. During this operation, they dismantled a bunker used by illegal armed groups, further crippling their operational capabilities.

The removal of such bunkers is crucial as these structures often serve as fortified positions for armed groups, enabling them to control territory and launch operations against security forces and civilians.

The operations in Old Bijang yielded further significant results. Security forces recovered one MA 3 Mk II assault rifle with a magazine and sling, one 7.62 mm self-loading rifle (SLR) with a magazine and sling, ten live rounds, one single-barrel rifle, one improvised pumpi, one ammunition pouch, six jackets in olive green color, and one pair of jungle shoes.

These items indicate the level of preparedness and the kind of military-grade equipment being used by illegal armed groups in the region.

These intensified efforts by the security forces are part of a broader strategy to restore stability and safety in Manipur.

By removing arms, dismantling bunkers, and disrupting the activities of illegal armed groups, the authorities aim to create a safer environment for the residents of the state. The ongoing operations reflect the determination of the security forces to maintain peace and order and to prevent any escalation of violence.

The district administration and security forces have also issued advisories to the public, urging them to avoid venturing into areas prone to such illegal activities and to report any suspicious activities.

The cooperation between the security forces and the local communities is crucial in these operations, as it helps in gathering intelligence and ensuring the success of security measures.

The recent operations by the security forces in Manipur have not only yielded significant recoveries of arms and ammunition but have also dismantled the operational infrastructure of illegal armed groups.

These efforts are a testament to the ongoing commitment of the authorities to ensuring the safety and security of the residents of Manipur, and to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
