Shimla, June 29: The first shower of monsoon changes the image of Himachal Pradesh’s smart city Shimla. The rain causes waterlogging in the city and affected daily life.

The local MeT office has issued an orange warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds in low and mid-hills for the next two days and a yellow warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorm, and lightning in low and mid-hills on July 1 and 2.

The Met department also cautioned people that damage may occur to fruit plants and new plantings due to gusty winds and heavy rainfall and the supply of electricity may also be affected.

Meanwhile, Jogindernagar was the wettest with 74 mm of rain, followed by Nalagarh 58 mm, Dharamsala 56 mm, Gaggal 52 mm, Sujanpur Tira 40 mm, Palampur 24 mm, Dehra Gopipur 23 mm, Hamirpur 22 mm each, Dalhousie 15 mm, Paonta Sahib 13 mm and Chamba 10 mm.
