Gangtok, June 27: Former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia has joined the panel for EURO 2024, marking his exit from electoral politics.
On June 25, the 47-year-old announced his decision following his defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in Sikkim, where he contested from the Barfung seat.
“After the 2024 election results, I realized that electoral politics is not for me. I am therefore quitting all forms of electoral politics with immediate effect,” Bhutia stated.
He lost to Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) by 4,346 votes, marking his sixth electoral defeat in the past decade.
