Gangtok, Nov 21: The Government of Sikkim’s Home Department has officially announced the upcoming visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the region, scheduled from December 11 to 14, 2023. A circular (No: Home/Protocol/2023/437) confirmed the spiritual leader’s presence.
In preparation for this significant event, the Chief Secretary has called for a preparatory meeting on November 21, 2023, at the Teesta Lounge of Tashiling Secretariat, starting at 10:30 AM.

The meeting aims to bring together key officials from various departments, including the Director General of Police and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, along with other high-ranking government officials.
Originally planned for October, the Dalai Lama’s visit was rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances related to a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF). The new dates, from December 11 to 14, 2023, are eagerly anticipated, and preparations are underway to ensure a smooth and successful visit by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
